Tannan + Arielle | Our Six Year Anniversary Session in Huntington, Indiana

November 27, 2019

This past August, Tannan and I hopped in FRONT of the camera, for our six year anniversary, to let some friends remind us just how special it is to have these moments captured! And getting these photos (AND video!!) back have been the perfect reminder just how special this job is! I’ll cherish these forever!

Lindsay with Lindsay Lee Photography and Lydia and Josh with Morning Light Film Co. knocked this one out of the park and we’re seriously so so thankful!! Make sure to head all the way to the bottom of the post to see the anniversary video Lydia + Josh made for us! AND if anyone is looking for an amazing hair and makeup stylist to make you feel beautiful, look no further than my girls with Something Blue Stylists!! Andi is just THE best!!

If anyone doesn’t know Tannan and I’s story on how we met, you can watch this old video of when we were a lot younger and super giddy about just being engaged 😉

But long story short, we met at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. We were both just young babes and so eager to make the best of our college years! He was a basketball player and I played volleyball (so yes, our 6’6″ and 5’11” selves didn’t waste the height ha!). We ran with the same crowd and crossed paths plenty, especially with a small Christian campus.

So finally after “talking” and getting to know each other for a little while, there really wasn’t any question. No one would ever catch my eye and have my heart quite like Tannan could. His witty, charming, tall and handsome self was the only guy for me!

The summer leading into our senior year, he popped the question while on a walk at our favorite spot. He memorized our favorite songs so he could sing to me as he asked me to dance. But with all the nerves he ended up forgetting all the words so I pretty much sang to him 😉 It was simple, perfect and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic! We wanted to wait until we were engaged to say “I love you”… so that was also the first time I heard him tell me! As you can imagine, my 22-year-old-self was a pile of mush finally being able to hear those words come out of his mouth.

Eleven months later I walked down the isle to my best friend. And it’s been the most perfect six years of marriage ever!!

But actually…. it hasn’t been.

Anyone who thinks marriage is going to make your life perfect and without hurt, tension, strife, loneliness and (to be honest) sin, has definitely not read the statistics on the marriages that actually make it.

It’s hard y’all! And not for the faint of heart! But ya know what else it is?

It’s a choice…

It’s been the best choice I’ve ever made in my life (other than accepting Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior) but a choice none-the-less….

And sometimes, for better or worse, that choice is a hard one. It’s hard to love unconditionally. It’s hard to not be selfish. It’s hard for two human beings to find a rhythm that gels with one another for 30, 40, 60 years!

But just like anything that’s hard work, the payoff is so SO rewarding!

We’re only 6 years into this thing and have a looooong way to go from having this thing even half way figured out. But we’re here. We’re choosing each other daily and even admits the chaos of life and the push and pull of our marriage, there’s still no one that has or ever will have my eyes!

Marriage isn’t perfect. Life isn’t perfect. But these pictures, they’re perfect (thanks to my girl Lindsay), and I’m so excited to show you some of my favorites from it!
