Emma & Nick | An Adventure-Filled Engagement Session at Yosemite National Park
This shoot is the result of a dream coming to fruition and I couldn’t be more excited about finally being able to push publish on it!
When I sat across from Emma the first time we met, I heard her talk about Nick and her’s love story with tears in her eyes and I pretty quickly knew there was something special between them. The love that she has held for Nick over the 8 years they’ve been together was enough to make me tear up right alongside of her.
In getting to know this sweet woman longer, I soon realized that her heart doesn’t just extend to her relationship with Nick, but to everyone she’s around! Through email or text, you don’t ever question her excitement for life and desire to live it to it’s fullest.
So knowing that they both lived in California and were big hikers, I ran an idea by her to see what she’d think. I’ve always dreamt of shooting at Yosemite and knew this would be a perfect chance to do just that! Needless to say there wasn’t a second of hesitation from them about taking a weekend trip to meet us there for one of the coolest engagement shoots I’ve ever been a part of!
I was finally able to meet the famous Nick and instantly fell in love with them together. They actually had hired my brother and sister-in-law, with Reflect Films, to do their wedding as well, so Chandler and Annalisa (and my girl Leah) all made a trip together to explore Yosemite for the weekend! To say we had a blast together is an understatement.
After meeting up for breakfast all together (at an awesome breakfast spot Emma had picked out), we drove into the park to find our spots we were set on. We first drove to Tunnel View and realized we needed to find a better overlook so there wouldn’t be a ton of people in the shot, so Chandler and I hiked for a bit, got rained on, and our group thought we were lost (ha!) but we finally made it to a spot that worked out perfectly!! We went down and got the group and brought everyone back up to show them what we had found!
After shooting at Tunnel View for a bit, we explored a bit of the valley where we were surrounded by El Capitan and multiple other majestic mountains!
Then when sunset was hitting, we went to find Taft Point! We definitely weren’t prepared for the sunset that we would be blessed with though! I don’t think any of us will ever forget the views and sky from that night!
I could write a few blogs on our explorations that day, but I’ll just leave these photos here for now for you to enjoy!
I would do that weekend over and over again with this group and these two! Can’t wait to see them again in December for their wedding at University of Notre Dame!
Enjoy some of my favorites from our adventures in Yosemite National Park!
