Classic Greencrest Manor Wedding in Battle Creek, Michigan
Allison and John’s Greencrest Manor wedding in Battle Creek, Michigan was romantic, classic and had timeless garden party vibes. Everything about this day was perfect and beautifully planned. Jenn of Modern Day Collective, who also owns Greencrest Manor, handled the planning and design. Not only did they have their wedding day here, but Allison and John also hosted a stunning welcome party the evening before.
This wedding was published in Martha Stewart, which you can check out here! Like many of the weddings I capture, I photographed this one on both digital and film. Now let’s dive into Allison and John’s Greencrest Manor wedding, because I promise you won’t want to miss this one.
The evening before Allison and John’s Greencrest Manor wedding, they hosted a welcome party for their closest friends and family. It was Amalfi Coast-themed with vibrant sherbet tones. Allison wanted the best of both worlds with their themes and color palettes.
Allison wore a few different dresses that complemented the theme and venue perfectly. The first was a short white dress, and the second being a longer floral white dress, with her hair in a loose romantic braid with floral accents taken from her dress.
The morning of the wedding, Allison and John got ready separately. The parents, John’s best man, and all of Allison’s bridal party were staying on-site at Greencrest Manor wedding venue with them. This venue has the most beautiful spaces, which were perfect for them to get ready in.
The Shampagne Room did Allison’s hair and makeup, and she wore an elegant wedding dress from Bella Bridal, designed by Martina Liana. One of the many special things about Allison and John’s wedding was that they made all of the candles. Allison owns Applewood Candle Co., and together they hand-poured each guest a signature scented candle. She even designed their own invitations!
After Allison and John shared their first look, we took portraits of them outside of Greencrest Manor. This venue is stunning, with it’s ivy-covered walls and gorgeous architecture providing the perfect backdrop for portraits.
Allison and John’s wedding party wore classic attire, with John and his groomsmen in navy suits. Allison’s bridesmaids wore blush gowns with classic white wedding bouquets by Modern Day Collective. They also had Reflect Films as their videographers. Check out their wedding video here!
Allison and John’s outdoor wedding ceremony was beautiful. It took place on the elevated lawn deck overlooking fountains, gardens, and the manor. They had a unique runway layout for the ceremony, as well as two large altar arrangements. White roses lined the aisle, as those are Allison’s favorite. The chairs faced the aisle in runway fashion.
Allison and John named their cocktail hour Mag-arita, inspired by their pup, Magnolia. They even had napkins printed with Magnolia’s face! With sides like caprese skewers, croquettes, and grilled chicken bites, it was the perfect cocktail hour.
They set aside two hours for cocktail hour. This allowed time for mingling, sunset portraits, and a reception room reveal. Their sunset portraits took place in the stunning gardens of Greencrest Manor wedding venue, which featured the most beautiful blooming flowers.
Allison and John’s wedding reception was held in the celebration house, also known as Maison des Fetes. It has beautiful open-air-doors, solid wood flooring, and offers a blank slate for you to create the reception of your dreams.
Guests were greeted with candles hand-poured by John and Allison themselves that listed the guest’s name and table number. Allison wanted candles to illuminate the party, and there were over 400 candles for their entire weekend! They also had the most beautiful gold crystal chandeliers and linen draping with twinkling lights that really added to the romance of the space.
About halfway through the reception, Allison slipped away and changed into her reception dress. It was a sparkly Anna Campbell dress that she paired with pearl block-heel Jimmy Choos. She and John shared a second look outside of Greencrest Manor wedding venue and he was absolutely blown away by Allison’s second look.
