A Fall Downtown Chicago Wedding

August 30, 2024

Catherine and Colin’s downtown Chicago wedding was filled with warm fall colors, a classic color palette, and beautiful city vibes. They chose Rockwell on The River as their venue, and the beauty of downtown Chicago provided the perfect backdrop for their entire day.

The day began with Catherine and Colin getting ready separately, and they chose to not do a first look. I loved the classic color palette they selected for their wedding day. Catherine’s hair and makeup were done by Pin Me Up Chicago. She wore a simple yet elegant white gown with a square neckline and long sleeves. The bridesmaids wore sleek, dark dresses which added a beautiful pop of color.

Catherine and Colin had a beautiful indoor wedding ceremony at Saint Clement Parish in Chicago, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The parish, with it’s grand vaulted ceilings, intricate glass windows, and stunning architectural details, felt warm and inviting—an ideal backdrop for Colin and Catherine’s downtown Chicago wedding! Afterward, the newlyweds greeted their friends and family outside, and then we took the Premier Trolley for wedding portraits.

After the ceremony, Catherine, Colin, the entire wedding party, and I got on the trolley and headed downtown for their Chicago wedding portraits. This was one of my favorite times of day—capturing portraits in the heart of the city at The Wrigley Building! There are always so many people and wedding parties around, but we managed to steal a few moments where they had the whole place to themselves and were able to capture some truly beautiful photos.

After their downtown Chicago wedding portraits, we then got back on the trolley and headed to Rockwell on The River. Catherine and Colin enjoyed mingling with their guests during their outdoor cocktail hour before heading into their reception. The night was filled with heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and plenty of dancing! Overall, the Powers fall downtown Chicago wedding was stunning. It was such an honor to be their Chicago wedding photographer.
