Mr. + Mrs. Rutkowski | Kalamazoo, Michigan | Wedding Day
When Vika first told me about her and Franky’s love story, I was pretty sure someone needed to claim the rights to it to make it into a major motion picture so I could go watch it and bawl my eyes out… because it’s one of the most romantic true tales I’ve heard in a long time! Which made for some of the most unique wedding day photos I’ve ever been a part of!
Franky first laid his eyes on Vika when they were in seventh grade at the rec center at school. His first thought was how beautiful she was and how he wanted her to be his girl. This surprised Vika when she found out because (like any middle school girl) she felt awkward, especially being new to the school. But Franky continued to pursue her and soon their young crush turned into their first love!
The highs and lows of any young love story got the best of them and they realized they needed to part ways. But, they never forgot each other… even after years! Vika told me that even though there were other relationships that came and went in between, somehow Franklyn’s name always re-surfaced and she never quite found anyone that made her feel the way he did.
Vika reached out to Franky one day when she heard a song that reminded her of their young love, which began a string of conversations which led Franky to ask to meet up with her. It wasn’t as easy as it sounds, though. They now lived states apart. But he happened to be traveling for work and had a layover near where she lived. So, he BOUGHT HER A PLANE TICKET just so that she could come to the terminal to see him!! I mean, how sweet is that?
After rekindling their love in an airport terminal, they didn’t want to spend any more time apart! Just a few months later Franky came to the airport to pick Vika up, but this time he had an important question to ask her… to spend the rest of her life with him! As if that’s not sweet enough, they couldn’t see themselves waiting to make things official, so only a couple months after they decided to elope!! Talk about wanting to make up for lost time!
Last Saturday I got to head to the beautiful Loft 310 located in Kalamazoo, Michigan to help celebrate the (already) Mr. + Mrs. Rutkowski as they came together with family and friends to have one of the most fun celebrations I’ve been able to be a part of! Being a part of this day and hearing all the love that was given to them through the toasts and cheers made for one of the best days ever!
I cannot wait to see where this love story goes from here!! Congrats to Vika + Franky! Cheers to 60 more years of love + laughter together! Enjoy some of this unique couple’s wedding day photos!
